Kitesurf Instructor Level 3 - Advanced Training - Online Seminar

Important: This seminar takes place over two days:
April 26 and July 5, 2026.
Participation on both days is required!

Requirements:

  • VDWS Instructor License Level 2 (Level 1 available upon request)
  • Experience with advanced teaching
  • Participation on both days

Objective:
Upon passing the practical exam, participants will receive Level 3 of the VDWS Instructor Training. Participation in the seminar is recognized by the VDWS as continuing education for license renewal.

Course content:

  • Use of methods and didactic findings in advanced training
  • Use of digital media in training
  • Use of media in teaching
  • Organization in advanced training
  • Lesson planning with the help of lesson plans
  • Physics – foil board
  • Training-oriented materials science
  • Technique/maneuver analysis

Examination:
To complete the practical exam, participants may select one of three exam formats.
The exam must be submitted via video on the second day of the online seminar. Further details about the exam will be provided on the first day.

1. Kite Directional Strapless Seminar
Demonstration of sailing a jibe with a foot change, as well as a fast turn directly downwind of the camera. The triangular course will consist of half wind, upwind, and downwind, with three buoys approximately 75-150 meters apart. The course must be completed in under 10 minutes, including jibes and tacks on the outside. The test is completed after passing the second buoy again. You can enter the course at any buoy and choose your entry point freely.

2. Kite Twin Tip Advanced Moves
Perform the following five advanced maneuvers within 10 minutes: Toeside riding on an upwind course (at least one line length); Transition jump; Backroll; Loaded jump (e.g., Raley. Choose one maneuver from the following: Inverted jump, darkslide, kiteloop, one-footer, or board-off. All maneuvers must be performed leeward within a radius of ½ line length around a fixed point (e.g., a buoy). Errors that result in disqualification include general safety errors, errors during takeoff/landing, forgetting to check for clearance, and performing maneuvers on the windward side.

3. Kite Foil
The triangular course consists of half wind, upwind, and downwind legs, and is marked by three buoys spaced approximately 75-150 meters apart. The course must be completed in 10 minutes or less using jibes and tacks on the outside or by carving through a slalom course between two buoys with one maneuver (jibes or tacks). One maneuver may be performed in displacement mode. The test is completed after passing the second buoy again. Entry into the course is possible at any buoy and may be chosen freely.

Important to know:          
The VDWS reserves the right to cancel the event for organizational reasons. The minimum number of participants is six people.
Note that participation is only considered successful if both days are completed in full. The exam will be administered via video. All further information will be provided on the first day of the seminar.
