Kite Instructor X-Over Course
A novelty for all trained VDWS watersports instructors!
You already have a VDWS license and would like to use your experience and motivation as a VDWS instructor in another sport? Then you can easily qualify for a second, third or fourth instructor license in another sport with our X-Over courses from 2024.
In short: X-Over courses enable VDWS instructors to contine their training and "broaden their horizons" by qualifying for additional VDWS licenses - at a lower price and less time-consuming.
For the course:
- Level 6 of the VDWS-Kiteboarding-Levelsystem ( basic jumps and gliding jumps or transition jump. Important: The VDWS-Basic-Licence does not have to be proved. (See also practical video).
- Teaching experience is not necessary, but thorough study of the theory on the VDWS E-Learning platform, as well as answering the working questions there.
Completion of the training course
- Passing the practical and theoretical exams as well as the teaching test
- VDWS membership
- Passport photo
- Minimum age: 16 years
Theoretical contents:
To acquire the necessary methodical-didactical knowledge to make kitesurfing fun for the students. Making and evaluating first teaching experiences by teaching kite lesson with real students.
Practical contents:
To organise and carry out safe kitesurfing lessons in the basic licence at different locations with different kitesurfing systems.
Duration: 6 days
Price: 625€
Extra costs: travel expenses, accommodation, equipment
Practice at 12-30 knots
Safe launching and landing of the kite with helper, getting upwind, jibe from switch position, jibe into switch position, jump with kite support, controlled stop at a buoy, safe and confident overall impression. Here is a demo video of the exam.
Teaching test
Teaching ability in combination with specialised theoretical knowledge and real students.
Theoretical exam
The written exam with questions on theoretical, practical and methodical training lasts 90 minutes.
The license completion after an X-Over course is identical to that of a regular course: If you pass all parts of the Level 1 exam, all you need for your Level 2 license is an internship at a VDWS school.
Note: If you are already a Level 2 instructor and can prove that you have at least 6 months of practical experience at a VDWS school, an additional internship is not necessary.
