Then the Water Sports Assistant training is the perfect opportunity to make the most of your school holidays and learn more about the water sports industry. Maybe one day, your hobby will even become your career! This first level of training is perfect for those who have already helped out at a water sports school during their holidays. Your VDWS school can now document what you’ve learned and issue your first license!

Requirements & Benefits

Minimum age: 

16 years

The registration is done through the training school, which documents the training and submits it to the VDWS office.

VDWS Membership:

After completing the training, the Water Sports Assistant becomes a free VDWS member for two years and can take advantage of all the benefits. After completing the Instructor Course, the individual becomes a full member with the corresponding annual fee.

Discounts & Internship:

  • If the Instructor Course is completed within two years, the Water Sports Assistant receives a 10% discount on the course fee.
  • The internship for the Instructor Course can be reduced by up to 50% (50 instead of 100 hours) if done at the same school.
  • If the internship is completed at a different school, there is a 20% reduction (80 instead of 100 hours).

Training Contents

The training lasts approximately 2-8 weeks and covers the following topics:

  • School organization and rental: approx. 10 hours
  • Safety concept of the station: approx. 2 hours
  • Customer and sales conversations, service: approx. 8 hours
  • Basic material knowledge: approx. 5 hours
  • Material maintenance and repair: approx. 5 hours
  • Observation during an entry-level course: approx. 10 hours
  • Additionally, the basic certificate in the respective sport must be obtained by the end of the training.

After successful completion, you will receive the "Member Card Wassersportassistent", which includes a 2-year free membership with the association (unless you have already completed a training course prior).

Exam

To receive the Water Sports Assistant license, you must pass both the theoretical and practical exams of the Windsurfing Basic Certificate.
